COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABILITY

The Millennium Tower is not only an impressive structure on the Vienna skyline, but the multifunctional building on the banks of the Danube has also been declared a “blue building”. This distinction from the Austrian Association for Sustainable Real Estate (ÖGNI) was awarded to the office tower for its sustainable energy concept and also for the space utilisation in the building as a whole.

Unlike a “green buliding”, the distinction of “blue building” primarily puts the building user at the forefront. I.e.: people should feel comfortable in the building. In this case, economics and ecology play just as much a role as sociocultural aspects – i.e. careful use of resources and energy, as well as consideration of economical and personal needs. For example, around 10,000 special sensors control the temperature and lighting conditions in the building, and thus save energy costs. However, the blue building criteria also include the need for the Millennium Tower complex to be connected as well as possible to public transport, and for people working there to be able to make use of the outstanding infrastructure through shopping options, restaurants and entertainment. Besides this, you can end the day relaxing on the beautiful banks of the Danube.
